One Year Lease (OYL) is an ensemble theater company based in New York City. We work to revitalize classic texts and find new ones which we hope will stand the test of time. OYL works with a wide variety of actors, designers, playwrights, and other creative, ambitious folks from different backgrounds. Our current ensemble comes from the United States, Greece, Australia, and New Zealand, and our actors are trained in a variety of methods. We incorporate these many different outlooks and experiences into the work we do, both at home and abroad.

One of the things that makes OYL stand out is our summer residency in northern Greece. Every summer, our actors, designers, and apprentices head up to Papingo, Greece, to work, study, rehearse, and live together, without the hustle, bustle, and noise of our day-to-day city lives. Back home, OYL has a special place in the Off-Off-Broadway community because our productions allow designers to work on small shows with big budgets.
