ARMS

Zagorohoria Region, Greece
Aug 6th - 10th, 2025

OYL performed three workshop presentations of ARMS by Lisa Sanaye Dring as a culmination of our 2025 International Residency in India, Japan, and Greece.  Performances will occur in English, Greek, Japanese, and Hindi in the villages of Monodendri, Vikos, and Papingo.

ARMS by Lisa Sanaye Dring is a new play written in response to Aristophanes’ Lysistrata. ARMS is an exploration of the connection between erotic and destructive impulses, and, like Aristophanes' original, a play whose main aim is to wage peace. It is interested in the central tenets of the original play: a desire for peace in those so low on options that they use their own bodies as a site of protest. But what might actually happen to people if they did this? What happens to a community forcibly deprived of eros-- instead of traipsing into a befuddled peace, might the ones waging war through violence move to more violence?

These performances are dedicated to Keegan Sol Fitlow who passed during a tragic accident while hiking in the Vikos Gorge.  During the five short days the OYL community knew Keegan, we encountered an incredible person filled with power, grace, humor, and endless possibility.

These three performances create a triangle around where Keegan passed and honor her presence. She will be deeply missed and her spirit will be with us on these stages, and on every stage we have the privilege to grace in her honor.
